Pre-Employment Screening

Some of the serious problems facing businesses today are employee theft, employee drug abuse, worker compensation claims and accidents in company vehicles. Texas Industrial Security recognizes these problems and can offer the customer cost effective solutions for their hiring needs. Security interviews, drug testing, employment verification, driving record checks, honesty tests, and criminal record searches are some of the important precautionary measures that we can handle for you. With today's litigious climate, employers are being held increasingly liable for the employees they hire. We are confident that TIS can help you hire the best applicants in today's job market.

Security Interview -- A thorough interview, conducted along the guidelines of a pre-employment polygraph interview, is conducted by a licensed private investigator. The same questions are asked and the same skill that has always elicited admission is utilized.

Written Honesty Test -- Employees who steal are responsible for a large percentage of new business failures in this country every year. Employees who abuse drugs are less productive and more prone to accidents than their fellow employees. Created by security and business psychology experts, the London House survey is a simple pen and paper test designed to determine such high risk factors as dishonesty, drug abuse, and violence. This survey is applicable to all job descriptions and is available in both English & Spanish.

Employment Verification & Investigation -- A recent survey indicated that more than half of applicants' resumes are falsified in some manner. Employers often do not have the available manpower to verify an employee's application. We will call the applicants four most recent employers and talk to previous supervisors, as well as personnel departments, regarding the length of employment, job title, and work ethic. You will receive a report stating who was contacted and the information acquired.

Reference Check -- We will contact references, noting length of time known, moral character, and living habits.

Civil Suits -- Has your applicant been sued? Does your applicant have a history of filing lawsuits? We can make sure that you know the facts before making a hiring decision.

Criminal Record -- Falsification of arrest history is the fourth most common lie on a job application according to a survey conducted by Ward Howell International. We can supply you with information regarding convictions of criminal offenses brought against individuals in a county by county basis. Reports will also show the status of any pending trials or litigation.

Drug Test -- Drug abuse costs companies billions each year, according to the Wall Street Journal. When drugs are ingested, traces can be detected in the urine for days or weeks, depending on the quantity, purity, and type of drug. Texas Industrial Security will conduct a urinalysis in a controlled, secure environment. Our automatic confirmation and chain of custody system meets or exceeds all legal requirements. Within 24 hours we will report any trace of the ten major drug categories found in the applicant's system. The lab is also certified to conduct DOT drug tests.

Skills Test -- How much does it cost your company to finally hire an employee, only to later discover he cannot make change correctly? We have developed a basic math and spelling test to enable you to determine an applicant's ability to handle cash transactions and daily reports. Correct spelling and simple math skills are qualifications each of your employees should have.

Physicals -- Obtaining knowledge of previous physical ailments can help your company cut down on workers' compensation claims and absenteeism. To that end, TIS has become affiliated with highly rated medical labs, located conveniently close to our offices, to conduct pre-employment and executive physicals. The standard examination, conducted by a physician, covers heart, lungs, nervous system, abdomen, reflexes, evidence of previous surgery, visual signs of drug or alcohol addictions, weight lifting requirements and range of movement. The doctor will also conduct DOT physicals or will adapt physicals tailored to your individual corporate needs. Results will be phoned to you immediately, followed by written reports.

Education Verification -- Does the job require a certain amount of education? Are you sure your applicant is really qualified? We will verify the dates he/she attended school and the degree.
